Comments on: “Islamophobia” Imagined? – Crayon Wars or Harmony Through Colour http://www.libertiesalliance.org/2013/11/03/islamophobia-imagined-crayon-wars-harmony-colour/ Campaigning against sharia human rights abuses Sat, 18 Oct 2014 14:24:59 +0000 hourly 1 By: Aeneas http://www.libertiesalliance.org/2013/11/03/islamophobia-imagined-crayon-wars-harmony-colour/#comment-2827 Sun, 10 Nov 2013 00:16:12 +0000 http://www.libertiesalliance.org/?p=19258#comment-2827 I agree that idealism is no substitute to realism when we are trying to predict the future in order to formulate policy. Idealism unfortunately, is the tool that our current political leaders use to formulate policy – they therefore create policies that are at odds with reality and as a result spoil lives. I think that left wing ideology is capable of producing the tools of policy but those who have taken over it are ones who are clouded by the fog of idealism and are currently blind to reality. As a result, our society suffers.

Projection of left leaning values on subjects they have no clue of tends to prevail over integrating the necessary realism by carefully studying a subject way beforehand and without presuppositions. This type of naivety and dumbing down is quite reminiscent of teenagers’ complacency and ensuing intellectual indolence. Opinions don’t need to be based upon insight these days, turning all opinions equally ‘valid’ that way. Knowledge doesn’t come into it. Plain and simple. Idealism can’t be reconciled with realism.

It is indeed double standards that is the concern. If Crayola have already had similar promotions for other religious festivals then that would be a very positive thing. The article at Mother Jones did not mention that similar promotions existed for other religions. If they had done this it would certainly strengthen their argument by demonstrating double standards of a different kind.

If readers are aware of such promotions then please post any relevant links in the comments. Crayola would deserve positive recognition if they have. An update has been placed in the article to reflect this.

It would be different if many religions were being recognized in this way.
