EDL Media Watch Project Challenges The Mainstream Media Misinformation Campaign

By • on April 6, 2011

When the EDL is mentioned by mainstream politicians and the establishment media it invariably finds itself the victim of a campaign of demonization and misinformation.  Labels such as ‘Far Right’, ‘Nazi’, ‘Fascist’, and ‘Racist’ are applied despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary.  It seems that this campaign against the EDL is a desperate attempt to delegitimize the organisation and put off its natural supporters who are rightfully opposed to those of a Nazi, fascist, or racist disposition.  We saw in Blackburn what the EDL thinks about racism, its opposition to racist bigotry was shouted out loud and clear – a position that was enthusiastically endorsed by the EDL supporters who heard that message first hand.

The political-media axis that rules the Western world is seriously worried about the EDL because it is gives voice to ordinary people and exposes the efforts of those who want to diminish our tradition of freedom and tolerance.  The only thing that the EDL is not tolerant of is intolerance.  Sharia norms and Islamism are intolerant and a danger to our free way of life.

The political-media axis has its agenda for the world and the EDL must have hit a raw nerve and promoted a message that somehow gets in the way of its plans.  That is why it is opposed with such determination and vigour by those who see our freedoms as an obstacle to their plans.  Freedom is not strengthened by promoting sharia norms as our politicians and media do on a daily basis.  Freedom is preserved by opposing things like sharia, Islamism, Communism, and Naziism and the EDL opposes all of these.  The only people who have cause to worry about the EDL are those who want to see the emergence of authoritarian government and the destruction of democratic norms.

Surely it is time for the media at least to be honest about the EDL and its message?  Surely it is time to end the demonization, the misinformation, and hostility to the EDL and its supporters.  However, if the suggestion of hidden motives on the part of the political-media axis are correct then such a transformation in coverage will be highly unlikely.

The EDL Media Watch Project aims to clarify the true position of the EDL on the political spectrum.  The following is a video illustrates this clearly:
