Five Thousand Strong English Defence League Demonstration Against Sharia in Preston – 27 November 2010

By • on November 27, 2010

Around 5000 EDL supporters braved the winter weather to assemble in Preston against sharia.  This was one of two simultaneous EDL demonstrations in different parts of England which demonstrates a new capability for the organisation.  It will only be a matter of time before numerous demonstrations will be possible simultaneously.

The demonstration in Preston was largely peaceful, though some trouble was caused during the speeches by some agent provocateurs who had disguised themselves as football fans.  The genuine EDL supporters made their views clear with regard to this group of trouble makers.  It seems that all manner of measures is used by the EDL’s opponents to disrupt its peaceful demonstrations in an attempt to tarnish its image.  The Government has lost the argument and seems willing to resort to any manner of dirty tricks in their desperation.

The police behaved in an exemplary and friendly manner both before and during the demonstration.  The only real problems occurred afterwards.  As EDL supporters were socialising after the protest had taken place, the numerous pubs where they had congregated were raided by the police and all occupants forced to leave.  It seems that this was a deliberate provocation, perhaps ordered by the senior politically appointed officers, in order to get EDL supporters to react to this outrageous treatment.  It seems that the last thing that the powers that be want is a peaceful EDL demonstration.  Nevertheless, the vast majority of EDL supporters didn’t react to this strategy.  The way that the police has been corrupted by the oligarchs who now run the British state now means that it is more essential than ever that senior police officers are directly elected like they are in the United States.  Politically motivated policing is undermining confidence in the police service and undermining equality before the law which is at the very heart of our democracy (though at odds with sharia).

Overall, the day in Preston was a resounding success – it was well attended, largely peaceful, and supported by the many people who were watching the demonstration or going about their ordinary business.  The support for the EDL has clearly grown in recent weeks and months.  The support base is strong and growing stronger by the day as the British Government continues to ignore the British people as it proceeds to gradually impose sharia norms against their will and for goodness knows what reason.

There no where near 5000. A family member was there and says that only 1000 EDL were allowed to take part in the demo.
There were too many getting pissed up and having a day out rather being serious about what the EDL aims are.
Forget the EDL it’s the BNP you need to back and support, whatever needs to be done can only be done by Political means and there is only the BNP.

SK – look at the video footage, look at the photographs, there was clearly more than 1000. Are you sure that your family member is a reliable witness? The BNP has been around for years and has achieved nothing. The EDL is open to all who want to protect and preserve English values and help make the country great wherever their ancestors came from.

Keep up the great work EDL…as a librarian I object to all attempts at destroying freedom of speech, the press, the right to peaceably assemble, to express a belief or nonbelief in a faith…

sonic – perhaps by “no-one else” you are referring to the figure reported in the mainstream media (MSM). It is a well acknowledged fact that the MSM is distinctly anti-EDL and is inclined to report in a way to create to most unfavorable impression of the organisation. The MSM always seems to underestimate numbers as a way of making people believe that the EDL is not the potent force that it is becoming. Just look at the photographs and the video footage of the event and make up your own mind.

You have got to give it too these people they are getting up there and doing something about it, instead of sitting on there backsides moaning about it.
But i do think that the political way forward is the British National Party.
No Surrender…………

The BNP is not the way forward as they are against people because of the colour of their skin. EDL should go political and stand for Parliament!

any main stream party taking a step to abolish sharia law and teachings would have a land slide victory and a musslim uprising

“any main stream party taking a step to abolish sharia law and teachings would have a land slide victory and a musslim uprising”

As far as sharia law fits in with the law of the Nation I have no problem with it. Where is detracts from the very values that people move to Great Britain to enjoy, the question has to be asked if most muslims (that is with one “s”, by the way), who have mainly come here to escape persecution, archaic laws and lack of a personal right to choices in their lives would indeed rise up.

I think not.

You really need to get a grip. Wherever you got that information you have been misled..What’s wrong with you can’t you see for yourself? You willingness to prostitute your ‘misguided wisdom’ to the public will only reinforce division between us all (nationalists) which will bring a smile to the gov’s face I’m sure.
EDL should not go political at all..That will split the vote further and we’ll all be in the same sh1t in ten years time.
Rather than looking and promoting differences between nationalists we should be looking toward common ground and together all nationalists will be a strong credible force within the UK.
